Where Can Solar Hot Water Heating Systems Be Used?

Ideally the panels should be situated on a south-facing roof, although south-east/south-west is also acceptable, at an elevation of between 10 and 60°. The panels can be attached to an existing roof or integrated into a new roof.

Will solar thermal work on dull days?

Although they are at their maximum efficiency on a bright day, they will still perform very well on cloudy days.

Will solar thermal work on very cold days?

Yes, the system is designed to work in much colder temperatures than we experience in this country. Only the reduction of light caused by heavy snow settling on the panel would affect efficiency.

Do I need to do anything if it snows?

No. If snow collects on the surface of the collector it will melt. The system is designed so that snow will melt from the surface sooner than for the rest of your roof.
