Solar Information and Brampton Energy Fair video

Published on 29th June, 2010

One of the most debated renewable technologies is solar power, both photovoltaic and heating. Passive solar power in houses has been around since at least the Ancient Egyptians. Pliny the Younger had a room with mica windows that stored heat and later radiated it, lessening the amount of fuel needed. Since the 70s, commercial solar power has been available, but low oil prices and expensive technologies have kept all but a few from realising this potential. It hasn’t been helped by stories of solar salesmen bullying clients into buying inferior products, and making a tidy profit them selves. Thankfully, the YouGen website has 6 ways to avoid those pesky solar panel cowboys. Read it, and never be caught unawares again!

Of course, that’s not all. There’s no point creating all this green electricity and heat if it just gets wasted. Here, you can learn all of the things you can do to increase your energy efficiency, from the obvious (turn lights off when you leave the room) to the surprising (building a closed porch for the front door)

And finally, some of you may remember the success of the Brampton Energy Fair a few months ago. Well, we finally have the short video of the event, highlighting the organisers, accomplishment and future aims of the Sustainable Brampton Organisation.
