Case Study - Ground Source Heat Pump - Lake District - The Brough Family

The Brough family have converted an 18th century water mill in the English Lake District, and made the decision to install a ground source heat pump, together with underfloor heating, to reduce running costs, add value to their property, and to make sure that they were “doing their bit” for the environment.

Installing underfloor heating additionally meant that the character of the rooms was not spoilt by large radiators.

As a large family, with six children ranging from 6 months to 17, the family needed a system which would provide a reliable source of plenty of hot water, as well as heating the large 5 bedroom mill.

Mrs Brough says “The heat pump has surpassed our expectations, after installation, we have virtually been able to forget about it. There is always a constant, pleasant temperature in the house, and a plentiful supply of hot water for all the baths, showers and washing that we get through”.
